The Collected Letters of Alan Watts by Joan Watts & Anne Watts:

Eye-Opening and Ever-So-Insightful!

Alan Watts is without a doubt my favorite philosopher, author, and orator that I know of. I have been reading his books and listening to his incredibly inspiring talks for nearly a decade nowβ€”and never once has his wisdom, perspective, or sense of humor disappointed.

As an avid fan of his work, I was genuinely thrilled to read this bookβ€”not only to learn more about his family and daughters (who worked together to curate this book!), but also to learn a whole lot more about his life behind the scenes.

It was truly a joy to glimpse into his life as it was more candidlyβ€”to read his letters and see how his perspectives shifted over time, how his philosophies, understandings, and teachings developed over passing years.

If you are a fan of Alan Watts (as presented in the public sphere) I would imagine you would find this book fascinating and highly interesting to delve deep into his private life.

While I still think of Alan Watts as one of the Greatsβ€”one of the most influential and inspiring people who ever livedβ€”this book in many ways helped me to view him as a more complete, whole, and relatable human being.

I cannot recommend this book moreβ€”to his fans especially, or anyone with a proclivity for Zen Buddhism, Eastern philosophy, and integrating wisdom of the East and West!

β€œThe Collected Letters of Alan Watts reveals the remarkable arc of Watts’s colorful and controversial life…

His engaging letters cover a vast range of subject matter, with recipients ranging from High Church clergy to high priests of psychedelics, government officials, publishers, critics, family, and fans.”
