My name is Kelli Schaffter and I'm the founder of Peace to the People. Thank you so much for stopping by and spending time here! 😊
I have been on a lifelong mission to bring together my many passions—and this site is thus the culmination of my interests as an entrepreneur, artist, writer, yoga teacher, meditation teacher, and certified goofball.
A former first chair percussionist, pianist, and head drummer born and raised in Wooster, Ohio, I graduated from Wooster High School with the Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence.
I then moved to Columbus, Ohio in 2009 as a Photography Major and Arts Scholars student at The Ohio State University.
While color theory, art history, and digital manipulation gave me the skill sets to later develop my career as a Social Media Manager, Webmaster, and Marketing Specialist, I ultimately picked up a minor in Studio Art before diving deeper into what had always been my greatest dream: to be a truthful writer, author, and positive influence on the world around me.
I studied Advanced Creative Nonfiction Writing, received a minor in English, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
Stemming from my lifelong enthusiasm for social studies, social activism, and history, I concentrated in Narrative, Culture, and Representation.
After graduating, I was massively inspired by Natalie Goldberg—an artist and memoirist who utilizes principles of meditation as a tool to better organize, write, and channel creativity.
Along with taking a college course called Holistic Theories of Social Transformation: Spiritual Activism and Engaged Buddhism, I studied the work of Thich Nhat Hanh and became fascinated by the undeniable benefits of embracing mindfulness and meditation in daily life.
I then graduated from the Yoga on High Teacher Training and Ayurveda Institute in 2015 as a 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher specializing in vinyasa yoga. I proceeded to teach and study, completing my advanced 300 Hour teacher training in 2017 to receive my certification as an RYT® 500, E-RYT® 200.
My specialities lie in vinyasa yoga, restorative (yin) yoga, meditation, iRest Yoga Nidra®, and prenatal yoga.
My goal is to help people:
♥ find a well of peace and potential within themselves
♥ discover the power of genuine self-love and self-care
♥ reap the benefits of practicing present-moment awareness
In my free time you can find me editing this website again and again (and again 😜), reading books, practicing yoga, writing, playing piano, and petting my mini Schnauzer. 🤓
Thank you again for taking your time to be here. If you want to reach me or are interested in collaborating, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org!
