My name is Kelli Schaffter and I'm the founder of Peace to the People. 😊

(To pronounce my notoriously mispronounced last name, imagine an "off" in the middle. Schäffter. 😜)

As a writer, yoga teacher, social media manager, marketing specialist, and webmaster, I am on a mission to spread joy and self-love to as many people as possible.

A lover of literature, social studies, and peaceful activism, I use my teaching to influence subtle societal change—sharing self-care practices to instill a deep sense of well-being and confidence in my students.

Creative, enthusiastic, and a wearer of many hats, I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2013 with a B.A. in Women's, Gender + Sexuality Studies and a concentration in Narrative, Culture + Representation.

Passionate about creative writing and photography, I also graduated with minors in English and Studio Art.

A former first chair percussionist, pianist and head drummer, I place great importance on crafting specific playlists that shape the power and energy of each class.

I enjoy rhythmic vinyasa flows, cycling cadence drills, and moving to the beat of my own drum. (Zing! 😜)

I was initially drawn to teaching yoga and meditation after studying mindfulness and the work of Thich Nhat Hanh in an academic course called Holistic Theories of Social Transformation: Engaged Buddhism + Spiritual Activism.  

I fell in love with putting thoughts and ideas into action and practice.

To strike mind-body balance while pursuing my many dreams of becoming an artist and entrepreneur, I graduated from the Yoga on High Teacher Training and Ayurveda Institute in 2015, earning my 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification with Yoga Alliance.

I am also a certified Sekoia® Yoga Teacher and am currently completing my 500 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher Training with an emphasis on MeditationiRest Yoga Nidra®, Prenatal Yoga, and Vinyasa Yoga.

Teaching a wide scale of intensity, I am also a certified Spinning® Instructor and Barre Intensity® Instructor.

In all classes, I attempt to meet you where you are and have fun.

I enjoy infusing relaxation techniques and mental training skills to foster resiliency, peace, ease, and ever-increasing strength. 

One to enjoy the present moment, I hope to make each class a positive community experience, providing an atmosphere of support, non-judgement, and acceptance of yourself and others.
