My name is Kelli Schaffter and I'm the founder of Peace to the People. Thank you so much for stopping by and spending time here! 😊
I have been on a lifelong mission to bring together my passions full circle, and this website is thus the culmination of all I hoped to one day achieve as an entrepreneur, artist, writer, yoga teacher, meditation teacher, and certified goofball.
A former first chair percussionist, pianist, and head drummer who graduated from high school with the Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence, I moved to Columbus, Ohio in 2009 as a Photography Major and Arts Scholars student at The Ohio State University.
While I adored portrait photography and was greatly shaped by my experience of art school, I was never quite able to settle on just one subject to quench my curiosity.
So while color theory, art history, and digital manipulation gave me the skill sets to later develop my career as a Social Media Manager, Webmaster, and Marketing Specialist, I ultimately picked up a minor in Studio Art before diving deeper into what had always been my most heartfelt desire: to be a truthful writer, author, and positive influence on the world around me.
I studied Advanced Creative Nonfiction Writing, received a minor in English, and ultimately graduated with a relatively obscure Bachelor's degree in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Stemming from my lifelong passion for social studies and sociology, I concentrated in Narrative, Culture, and Representation.
I had what felt like a billion ideas floating in my brain—bursting with many books, business ventures, and creative projects I was eager to bring into fruition.
I was massively inspired by Natalie Goldberg—an artist, memorist, and writer passionate about Zen and utilizing meditation as a tool for better writing, organizing, and tapping into creativity.
Along with taking a college course that totally changed my life: Holistic Theories of Social Transformation: Spiritual Activism and Engaged Buddhism, I studied the work of Thich Nhat Hanh and became fascinated by the undeniable benefits of embracing mindfulness and meditation in daily life.
As a result, I graduated from the Yoga on High Teacher Training and Ayurveda Institute as a 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher in 2015, and completed my advanced teacher training in 2018 to receive my certification as an E-RYT® 200, RYT® 500.
My specialities and passions lie in vinyasa yoga, meditation, iRest Yoga Nidra®, and prenatal yoga.
My goal is to help as many people as possible—to inspire my fellow human beings to find a well of peace within themselves, discover the power of genuine self-love, and the benefits of acquiring present-moment awareness.
Most importantly, I am just an average person seeking a sustainable and ethical way of living my life with purpose.
In my free time, you can find me editing this website again and again (and again), voraciously reading books, writing, playing piano, petting my mini Schnauzer, and being a mega-homebody. 🤓
